Please get together all of the documents you'll need to submit. Submitting
them all at once will make it easier to get your return prepared with the
least amount of back-and-forth.
Documents include:

Vital Information such as legal names and tax IDs of children, spouse, and
other dependents.
- W-2s, 1099s, and other amounts of income (alimony, gifts, etc.).

Totals of business expenses (i.e. a spreadsheet with totals, not a box of
receipts).

Information about life events such as marriages, births, deaths, and
moving for work.

Investment Information: stock exercise amounts, dates, information to
calculate the cost basis, interest, dividend statements, amounts of any
forgiven loans, home mortgage interest statements, etc.

Balances of foreign bank accounts, foreign income (including rental
income), and ownership of foreign corporations.
